Man, time has been winding down so fast! Where to begin?

General conference was awesome! Very uplifting and inspiring. Got to watch it at the Stake center with these boys, plus.. I finally found a selfie stick so it was all around a great week haha.

These 2 that are not "full time missionaries" have become such great friends. They are amazing examples of how to share the gospel with friends and family, and have really helped us out with the work.

Everything else is great as usual. Bittersweet though that is the only way to describe it! Excited to see the family, but sad to leave my new family at the same time.

Love you guys!

Things are starting to get brighter :D

This week the drama with one of the ward members and us, escalated. It reached the point where our investigator was told that they did not have what it takes to join the ward choir.. So some strings were pulled and that person is being released! Don't mess with the Lord's work.

Thank heavens, the lady we are working with is really forgiving and is still taking the lessons and coming to church. So we are still happy.

Had my last Zone conference this week! It was rough, gave my dying testimony and I was pretty much at a loss for words, it went well though.

Love you guys!

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

These last couple weeks have been interesting. There has been a significant amount of conflict with some of the ward members and several of the missionaries in this stake including myself, but I have learned a lot through these final trials. It is interesting, through these 2 years I have seen the Lord's work hindered most by those who claim to be disciples and followers of Christ. It has solidified my testimony that the Church must be true, because somehow He is furthering His work with all of these people causing so many problems. It has confirmed to me that the full time missionaries cannot do the work alone. That the members play a much more vital role in helping people find and maintain their faith.

Please excuse my rant, everything else has been awesome!  It has been 3 weeks and we still have the Nu'uanu Elders sleeping on our floor. We have grown very close to each other in a short amount of time, but it looks like they are finally upgrading to their own house this week. Gonna miss em! We also got to blow glass together and make some cool beads! Never thought I would experience that. Also went on a crazy hike again, before we hit the waterfall we walked through a very long muddy tunnel with a dead pig in it. It was cool!

Love you guys, see you soon!

Good morning from the islands! What an eventful week it has been. We picked up the new elders from transfer meeting on Wednesday and thank heavens, they are not taking our car or our house! :) They got a new car and have not received a house yet, so they have been sleeping on our floor in our 1 bedroom studio. It has been a good time haha. We have done quite a bit together because they white washed and we have helped introduce them to our investigators and get to know the area. They are good elders.

Saturday we had our Baptism for Rayne, and it was amazing! We invited both wards and had a great turnout. The spirit was very strong.

These are the missionaries who took one of our wards :ʻ( Iʻm sure it was meant to be though and have learned to accept it. Everything else is great, see ya soon!

Whaats up?! Don't got much time.. literally haha keeping it short today.
Rough week this week. The mission is getting more missionaries and we are giving one of our wards to them :/ We have been doing a lot of our work in that ward and it is sad to see it go. We will still be having the baptism this Saturday in that ward because the new Elders won't know whats going on. Looking forward to that. Rayne has been an awesome investigator, please keep him in your prayers!
Today was good, we went to a waterfall on a crazy hike. Good times. The ZL's car got their window smashed out because they left their ukulele in it. Somebody stole it. Had to get that taken care of today.
Transfers is this Wednesday, I will be finishing with Elder Deadman but we will only have 1 ward now, and maybe be walking, and not sure where we are living but I'm sure it will work itself out!
This is one of my Hawaiian sistas that we said goodbye to this week! Shes da best

Other highlights, we ate cow tongue.. it was actually pretty good! Love you guys!

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

Man time is a flyin, and it ain't slowin down! We had an awesome couple of weeks! Tuesday we got to do a temple trip with the zone! It was awesome, especially because that was my last area. I saw so many people that I knew and really loved seeing it all again! Even ran into the Houseman's at lunch! :)

We started teaching one of our old investigators again! Lost touch for a while but he is recommitted to baptism on the 3rd of next month, and is so solid. He started going to early morning seminary on his own and volunteered to be president of the class! Without us even knowing! Our best investigators seem to come as blessings from above.
One other cool thing that happened this week, I decided to empty the cupboards of all the older food while my son watched his training dvd's. After emptying about 60lbs of food, we asked each other who we felt to give it to (it wasn't that old haha). We both felt impressed to give it to the same person so we took it all to his house. When we knocked and his wife came to the door instead, and talked to us which usually she doesn't. We learned that he was sent to jail for the week, and she was left to watch the kids by herself. She was very grateful for all the food we didn't really need. It felt nice to help out!

Thursday, August 11, 2016

Man, the days are just going too fast! This week was the best! After all of the hard work we have been doing to find new investigators, the ones we didn't find just walked into church on Sunday. Interesting how Heavenly Father works, but I am not complaining haha blessings for effort. They were literally golden, the girl friend was just crying and crying at the testimony meeting (mind you this was her first one). We got return appts. for Friday and we are stoked. Also found a couple others this week who seem pretty promising.
I don't have a lot of time but another cool experience, we have been working a lot with the youth of our wards and getting them out to get some practice. They went out of their way to start a Book of Mormon class for themselves and their friends who are not so familiar with it. Such a solid group they are the best.
Did some crazy service this week for another crazy horder lady. Moving her hoards all over the place! Everything else is good, loving these wards, loving these people. Time is going by so fast I can't even believe it. Love you guys!

Great week here in Honolulu! Elder Deadman and I have been hitting the streets. The other day we were visiting the PM list and we arrived at a house that was fenced off. The lady there had bashed with us in the past but we felt to go with it anyway. We came to the door and long story short, they let us in and were stoked to read the Book of Mormon! We have a return appt. with our Bishop this Wednesday, and I spoke in church yesterday and mentioned it and the ward was pumped.
Service with Auntie Annette this week was good. We clean up the property that her preschool is on and help her maintain it. It's a big job but it's not too bad when the other missionaries come.
Didn't take any pics this week, so here is a city pic :) Love you guys!

Thursday, July 28, 2016

Aloha hurricane season! Last night we had tropical storm Darby hit us, it was intense! We were in a lesson when it started and it was a decent walk to our car, so we were drenched from head to toe. We even took our shoes and socks off because the sidewalks literally became rivers! Then when we got home our patio flooded so we closed that off and dried it up. Good times.
Mid week we dropped Elder Henderson off at the Tabernacle, and picked up my new companion Elder Deadman. I know, what a name. If I had a dollar for every time someone made a joke about it in the last 4 days I'd be well off! Poor guy haha. He is cool, still very green and a bit shy but we have been hitting the streets hard these last couple days. We made leis with Auntie Annette this week for the dying missionaries. She's the best! We do service at her pre-school.

Everything else is great, lot's of visits and service. I am also back to being a district leader.
Fun stuff. Hope you guys have a great week! Love Elder Snell

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Hello everybody, it has been a bitter sweet week this week, transfer time has come again. Elder Henderson has been called to the Kaneohe zone, which is not that far but I am going to miss him :/ My new companion, and probably my last, will be a greenie. At least I am finishing his training. He has been out about a month so I am pretty much training. His name is Elder Deadman and is moving from the other side of Honolulu.

This is a crazy transfer, President Bekker white washed more areas than I have ever seen and is changing pretty much every companionship.. Interesting tactic but we will roll with it and see how it goes. Whatever happens is ok though because I am pretty much guaranteed to finish in Hololulu.

This week we had a lot of service, a wedding, an eagle project (painting), and moving our most solid investigators out of the city :( We have lost quite a few in the last couple weeks, but that won't stop us!
Gonna miss this boy, it has been an awesome run and I am looking forward to reuniting down the road!

Today we went hiking, ice skating, and ate delicious crepes. Can't beat that! Everything else is going good, just chuggin along, loving the work. Until next week-

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Another great week here in the city folks. We are definitely getting closer to the ward members and striving to increase our teaching pool. The people we are working with now are incredibly busy working multiple jobs, that is the obstacle we are currently dealing with.

We were able to meet with our investigator Marianne, and discovered that there are full parks built on top of roofs here! I didn't know that they had those until we had lunch at her house. There was pavilions, trees, grass, a pond, and golfing areas on the roof! So cool.

Our members took us to a crazy restaurant the other day, it was a Chinese delicacy eatery and it was crazy. In one meal we ate chicken feet, jelly fish, and fried anchovies that hadn't been gutted! Mine had eggs in it! We call those "waspy" experiences, meaning out of control.

Today we went Lazer tagging and mini golfing. Good times with the crew!
Everything else is great. Doing my best to finish strong and enjoy these final moments. I am sad to think about leaving but the time is flying so fast! Love you guys~

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Please excuse the delay and the short email, the library was closed yesterday.

Solid week though! We were able to meet our new Mission President and his wife on Tuesday! They are the nicest couple. They gave a basic introduction and their expectations and we introduced ourselves. They were very excited to be here and ready to hit the ground running.
The rest of the week was pretty normal, service, blessings, lessons and finding. We lost a family of investigators which was sad, but they decided to go to the Samoan ward :/

4th of July was great! The Sr. couples took us to breakfast and bowling, and they also BBQ'd for us that evening while we watched fireworks at Pearl Harbor! Can't beat that

Everything else is good, love you guys! Special thanks to all those who fight for freedom in any way :)
Aloha! This week was pretty awesome. Lots of miracles in the big city.

Wednesday we had our last Zone Conference with President and Sister Warner. It was really good, and really sad! I am going to miss them, a new pres just won't be the same. He gave an awesome final talk though, it was really motivating to finish strong! The new one is President Becker. He is also from Utah I believe. He comes this Wednesday.
This week we also did a lot of service. Mostly yard work, and getting a guys house ready for a yard sale. Pretty fun stuff. Started street contacting again this week, met a lot of crazies and a lot of homeless people.

The best part of this week happened yesterday. We went to a stake conference broadcast, and a family brought their friend and we taught him the Restoration! It was awesome, he is so solid. He committed to Baptism once he could pray for himself and wants to try to do it next month!

Everything else is going good! Love you guys

Thursday, June 16, 2016

Hey guys, sorry it's so late! We had to help the President with an emergency transfer today so we are running behind.

This week was awesome, so much happened I don't even know where to begin. We did a lot of service, one project was for a man who lived in a house where the inside looked like a midevil castle! Also tried some crazy new foods and met some awesome people.

There is so much potential in these wards. We spoke Sunday and had 5 investigators attend. That is a lot compared to when I was in Laie haha. Get ready to baptize nations!

We went to the Aloha Tower today, cool view of part of our area! Welcome to the city :D

Sorry for keeping it short, gotta run! Love you guys~

Monday, June 13, 2016

Wow what a week! Safely made it to the city and it still hasn't hit me but I am companions with Elder Henderson! :) Things have been awesome so far. Honolulu is nuts! There is a lot more people, and a lot more of pretty much everything! Our area is big, plenty of homeless and it is pretty easy to get lost, but it has been an adventure! I will send a picture of our area next week!

Today we went bowling! Our Zone is pretty cool too, this is a picture of the new crew.
Both wards are awesome. Cool story, we got a call 2 days ago and were needed to be ring bearers/witnesses at a last minute wedding! First time for that haha it was pretty cool!

The city is pretty great, lots of new things to try. We went to China town town today and I had my first Maple Bacon Donut! It was really good. Also trying an Irish restaurant tonight with our members! Oh, I tried one of the weirdest things ever this week. It is called a Halohalo, it is pretty much an icee but at the bottom there is frozen beans and jello cubes and when you mix it together it looks like throw up but it wasn't too bad! It is actually a Phillipeno delicacy!

Everything else is great, love you guys!

Friday, June 3, 2016

So I just want to start off by saying holy cow!

Transfer news came in Sunday night, and life is once again, very bitter sweet. I will be leaving the amazing North shore and finishing my mission - in the city. I have been called to Honolulu, Lanakila and Nu'uanu wards. Completely different compared to everywhere else I have been, BUT the reason I say holy cow, is because me and one of my favorite missionaries in the whole world decided we would pray this transfer to be companions, and I almost passed out when I heard, "you will be serving with Elder Henderson!"  I am beyond stoked, for those of you who don't remember, he was the missionary that I had one of my first miracles with in my greenie area. I know prayers are answered, but I was a little surprised when that one was! :) I am so excited!

Other than that, we had interviews. President Warner is almost done with his mission, he has been great. I am sad I will have to finish with a different one. Lots of goodbyes and graduation stuff this week, that is mostly it. Went to all 3 wards yesterday so I could say goodbye to the old friends. Hard stuff.
This is the sunrise this morning from our chapel.. Right? Gonna miss these people and this area sooo much!

Monday, May 23, 2016

Wow, what a week

So to start it all off, we get a call.. Our members neighbor has been robbed, the house has been destroyed and they asked the ward for help cleaning it up. We get there and destroyed it was, a tornado would have done less damage. The family was distraught! They were visiting the mainland for their youngest daughter's cancer treatments, and that is what they came home to. There were 14 of us there, and we were cleaning the place from top to bottom. The power was cut and everything in the fridge and freezer rotten and you could smell it from the road. Everything that could be on a shelf or in a cupboard was on the floor, and much worse. But after 3 hours of deep cleaning we had  the place looking brand new, with the smell and all the mess gone.

The craziest thing about the whole thing was feeling the negative spirit, and then seeing the entire families countenances change as the hours passed, and having the good spirit return. The love and unity displayed by the ward definitely impacted me, and I am almost positive had a huge impact on the family as well, of how following the example of our savior can bless one another.

We also went to the temple! These are my boys @ Laie visitor center!

We went on a hike today, it was pretty cool. I will send those next week! Love you guys~
What's up??

It has been a couple of good weeks over here, sorry no email last week we were pretty busy! It was good to Skype home and see everybody though! :)

This week we did a lot of service, we cleared out a really gross river to help the water flow. We also set up a Tongan wedding! It was cool, I didn't realize how much goes into those things. We also got to eat there, which bumped our Saturday dinner count up again..

Everything else is good, we are still working very hard to gain the member trust and to find new investigators to work with! One cool thing that happened this week, we were invited to lunch at the PCC and we went in and got to eat the Umu that they prepared in the Samoan village! It was really good, and we get VIP entry since our member is the chief! :D

Dinner with the Solipo's and the H2 Elders :) Love these guys so much!

Love you guys! Aloha Atu~

Monday, May 9, 2016

It was a solid week this week.

First things first.. I would like to get something off my chest.. We were at a Tongan ward activity, and I ate what once was a beautiful creature.. HORSE! haha it was pretty good!

Naizik was baptized and confirmed this week, it was an awesome day! His cousin and another boy named Max who we have been working with were also baptized. It went really well, and that was our last non-member that we had meeting with us, so it looks like it is time to do some more finding!
That is why ward trust is so important, covering the Tongan and Samoan wards you don't have a physical area because they live all over the place, therefore any tracting we are to do would not be in our area. So.. getting to know the members, the less actives and doing anything we can for the ward is how we are building that bridge! Yesterday we joined both choirs!

Everything else is good, our 1 bedroom house is still a 4 man pad. But the H2 Elders will not be homeless for too much longer! They got a place and should be moving in this week. It has been a lot of fun though!

I also saw (former) Elder Bogner this week! He is visiting HI, and I saw him driving one afternoon and I stopped to talk to him. He was my comp in Maui! Got to reminisce some old times :)

Lastly, I would just like to give a shout out to the best Mother in the world! (my mom) :) Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday! Happy Mother's day to you and to all Mothers who do so much for us!

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Holy cow, it was a crazy awesome week.

So, Elder Manalo went to Wahiawa (by my first area). And the 2 new Elders coming in, Elder Mapusua and Southwick, never received a home to stay in, so they are currently staying with us in our 1 bedroom house! It has been a very fun week. Elder Mapusua is one of the funniest guys I have ever met, and could tell stories and jokes for days without stopping. He also loves to sing so there is never a dull moment. He is the Samoan on the left.

I thought losing a ward would mean we would be fed less, but I have never eaten so much in my life.. We probably ate around 10 dinners this weekend! It is really working out better though, I miss H2 ward but 3 wards may have been too many. We now have more time to really get to know the people better.

The rest of this week was good, we did a lot of service. First we weeded a graveyard and then we tore down a house and helped build a deck. Cool stuff! Today we cut around 100 lbs of strawberries to make jam, and I don't want to ever see another strawberry.

Also, before Elder Manalo left we got to fire knife with real fire! :D super cool! He started the fire with 2 sticks, I am still working on getting that down though.

Everything else is good! Our buddy Nayzak is going to be Baptized this Saturday so if you could keep him and his family in your prayers that would be fabulous :) Love you guys!

Thursday, April 21, 2016

I know it's not May, but we fasted for miracle May in April, and the blessing are already comin! One of the reasons I say this, Uta (the Tongan man) and his family decided earlier this week that he wanted to be Baptized this Sunday, because he leaves Hawaii this Friday! We finished the lessons in Tongan, and arranged everything with our Mission and Stake President and had an amazing Baptism yesterday :) And man can those Tongans sing! It was a pretty small room but they out sang the piano and you could barely hear it! So awesome!
Also, transfer news is here! A lot is happening right now and it is, like always, bitter sweet. Due to the increase in member missionary work, and the 40 day missionary fast. The 2nd ward will be getting it's own set of missionaries, which means that we will just be covering the Tongan and Samoan Wards. It will definitely make our load lighter, but I am sad to leave good friends and family behind.

With that being said, Elder Manalo will be leaving Laie and I will be DL again, and getting a new companion that I served with on the Big Island! :D His name is Elder Cronin, and he is awesome, I am so excited to be his companion!

Everything else is great. Last night I met one of the girls from Meet The Mormon's! Heck yeah. Hope you all have a great week! ALOOOHA

Monday, April 18, 2016

'Hello? Can you hear me?'

This week was awesome. Julie had her Baptism on Saturday and she said it was the first time that her family has been reunited for over 3 years. It was a really sweet day :)
We taught the Plan of Salvation with Uta the Tongan. He is still very excited to be baptized and wants to set a date the first week in May!

One of our wards is really starting to light the missionary fire, Bro. Houseman, our WML, is conducting a 40 day fast and getting the ward excited about the work. We started it yesterday and it was an amazing spirit.

Friday was crazy. We had a mission wide fast, and our mission president asked that the only thing we do from morning until evening was tract. It was a long day! I am sure lots of good will come from it, but we ended up tracting a really rich area on the North shore, and met a lot of rude rich people.

Anyways, hope life is good for everybody! Thanks for all the prayers and emails! Love you guys

Thursday, April 7, 2016

This week was a good one. I am sorry I forgot to let you know we were taking P-day today, but we had Temple day :) It was great!

General Conference was great, they seem to get better every year. Elder Holland was my favorite once again!

Uta is doing really well, he was able to watch General Conference in Tongan and understood it all and enjoyed it! We were able to see him afterwards and give him a blessing, even though we can't directly understand him, the spirit was there so strong. I am so excited for him. This week Julie's Baptism is for sure! We are very excited for that as well.

For District meeting, Elder Manalo bought Balut (the duck in the egg) and fed it to all the Sisters in our District. It was the funniest thing ever because they were blind folded and didn't know what they were eating hahaha. They did really good though, only one of them didn't try it!

Something else cool, I got to ride a Segway! It was hard at first but was so cool!

These are my adopted brothers that I love. It has been good.

Love you guys!

Monday, March 28, 2016

Hello everybody!

This week was pretty good. We had Zone Conference the other day, and we got.. Drum roll.. Black boxes! :/ haha no ipads, just a box in our car that tells us to slow down, and to buckle up they are kind of annoying, but should save the Mission a lot of money so I guess it's a good thing.

Our Tongan investigator is a big blessing, he decided that he is really serious about baptism, and we taught the 2nd lesson with the ward and they translated it all. It was awesome. We have another one coming up this Saturday as well, it is still not for sure so pray for Julie!

This is the only picture I have taken recently, but I thought it was pretty funny. The sign says cat's are like potato chips.. it is hard to have just one! So true lol this lady had so many cats! There were 6 just in her driveway!
Thanks for your prayers, they are appreciated! It has been very challenging pleasing 3 wards at the same time, so keep em coming :)
Love Elder Snell

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

This week was nuts. We have really been trying to get to know the members in all 3 of our wards, and while we were visiting them we met a family who had a friend move in fresh from Tonga. I am super stoked we have a new person to work with! They brought him to church yesterday and he doesn't speak a word of English haha but luckily we have a Quorum full of willing translators! It was pretty cool, that was my first time teaching someone who has no idea what I was saying, but it went really well! He even accepted the invitation to be Baptized!

Some more exciting news, apparently we are getting iPads soon! I don't know when but that is what they are sayin :) Zone conference is this week so we will see if that is legit.

Other than that we had a week full of service and missionary work. Pretty cool stuff. And today I took everybody fishing, heck yeah.  Malo e lele!

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Good afternoon my fellow subscribers haha

Another great week serving the Lord in Hawaii! Not as much happens in this area as my former areas, but like the last weeks we did a bunch of service and visited a bunch of members!

We did have a cool experience though. We were having a rough day and no one was home, we parked in a drive way that said no parking, but it was going to be quick so we were not worried about it. The person we visited wasn't home and as we were walking back, a lady came out of the house that we parked at and I thought to myself, here we go again! She is going to yell at us. But she actually asked for our help to give her car a jump:) and she was not a member! We got her car going and talked for a while, I felt that I should mention that we have been painting peoples houses (which I never do) and she lit up and took us in her house to show her what needed painted! We have an appt tomorrow to paint her house!! :) Heck yeah

Today was cool too, there are some members who started a thing called the Missionary give, it is like a mini store that they provide things like shampoo, food, soap, deodorant, ect. To all the Missionaries in Laie! Such amazing families here. I will never be able to repay them, there are so many that are so good to us.
Oh yeah, we were eating dinner last night and I thought I was gonna die because it was with an elderly Tongan couple. They made us keep eating and eating and I looked at Elder Manalo and we both looked like we were going to pass out and the couple just started laughing at us! They have an interesting sense of humor here, we were both so close to throwing up haha.

One more service we did this week that was cool, we helped a family make over 500 Lau Lau's (a good Hawaiian food) to help save there house from foreclosing! They were able to sell all of them the next day! That was really awesome.

Monday, March 7, 2016

It was a good week this week. Transfer news came this weekend and I am happy to announce that Elder Manalo and I are staying in Laie!

This week was pretty crazy, did a ton more service. More painting and odd jobs. Did some tracting and finding, our investigator finally responded to us! Said we could meet this week so we are crossing our fingers. The work is moving a little faster each day haha our ward mission leader is on fire though so that is good.

For Pday we went fishing, pretty cool my comp likes fishing almost as much as me! :) Still trying to figure out how to hunt down the big one though..
Everything else is good. Thanks for everybody's support! Love Elder Snell

Friday, March 4, 2016

Whats up?? This week was really hard, and good. So many people were not home, and our most solid investigator stopped replying to us :( We were also at our house a couple days ago, and we heard all of this really loud cussing, so we went to check it out and I witnessed my first legit fight. It was full grown men and they were just going at it, it was pretty crazy!

Being in Laie though, we get to go to the Temple every month so that has been good! Always helps boosts spirits! We have a pretty cool district.
The rest of the week was pretty much service, we had 4 projects yesterday with all different people! Painted a house, deep cleaned a house, moved some people out, and plenty of yard work! Oh and we even got to go into the water and clean the Temple pond haha that was super cool.

Keep running into friends at BYU, it is crazy, and I am loving it. See you next week!

Love Elder Snell

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Hey ya'll! What a week, found out Shawny's best friend is a member, and she accepted the invitation to be baptized!! :) Good fellowship makes it so much more awesome!

Did a lot of service this week, almost every day! Got to go on exchange with the Zl's and Ap, heck yeah. President Warner also joined us for Stake Conference yesterday and spoke on the Atonement. I really appreciated it, because as a missionary I want to be the best I can, and I still fall short all the time. I am very grateful for a Savior who is willing to pick us up when we fall and help us keep going.

Visited quite a few less active families. They are my favorite! One family is teaching me how to fire knife! :D

Started the day right today and caught a lil sword fish! At least that is what it looks like. The tide is higher than it has been in around 20 years, so we got to watch some huge waves come in.

Thanks for all of your support through everything! I am very grateful for each one of you :) Love you guys!

Friday, February 19, 2016

What a week. I am pretty exhausted, we did service almost every day this week, and I am starting to look like my companion (brown) :D haha. We have a new investigator that is really solid, and I am really happy to have someone who is willing to progress! Also had a Regional broadcast on Sunday so we only had to do 2 hours of church! It was really good though, I learned that any question that someone has about our religion can and should be answered using Joseph Smith and the Restoration of the Gospel, and modern revelation.

Went fishing this morning, it was a little slow though today so no new pics. Pancakes with the Pres, this is my new Zone, as you can see there are 6 Elders and.. A lot of sisters haha it is pretty cool though.

Everything else is good, serving here is a little bit different.. The Sisters are split between Pdays, so the Elders are required to take Pday on Tuesday at least twice, that is why I am emailing today! Love you guys~

Monday, February 8, 2016

It's been a solid week, I am slowly but surely getting used to everything. Got a few new referrals this week that I think have some good potential! We hit our Zone goal so President is coming out to make us pancakes again! Heck yeah

This week we did a lot of member visits and a ton of service, just trying to gain trust from them. Elder Manalo and I bore our testimony in all 3 Sacrament meetings yesterday and the fire has been lit haha. The Bishop and Ward mission leader thanked us and said that the Elders in the past have not been the best so he is stoked to see the work get going again. (I guess our mission leader talked us up too, yay!)

One of my favorite things is how much they feed us here, I have been hearing the Tongan phrase "Kai ke mate" a lot more, in English that means, "eat until death" haha. We also play basketball with the Tongan ward every week, which is one of my favorite things. It got really heated this week!

I know this was back in Hilo, but I never showed you our Zone shirts! They are awesome.
I will keep yall updated with everything. Thanks for all the letters, love and support. Love you guys!
Wow what a week! I finished saying goodbyes in Hilo. It was very hard to leave so many new friends behind. Wednesday morning I caught a flight back to Oahu and went straight to the North Shore! Laie is so pretty, our area is almost all shoreline. It kind of felt like I was coming home when I landed, because it brought back a lot of memories of when I first came to Mililani a year ago.

The work here has made me rethink what a mission even is.. It feels like I am serving in a tropical Utah. We cover 3 wards and only have 2 or 3 semi solid investigators, and when we tract it is almost all members! The accounting system is even different haha. A lot of the work we do is just strengthening members, which is different but hey, I am willing to do what ever I have to do! There are so many good people here though, and since everybody has family in Laie, I have already seen 7 or 8 friends visiting from previous areas!

Highlight of this week. Elder Holland came to visit our mission!! We got to shake his hand look into his eyes and that was his way of "Interviewing us" Everyone was kind of nervous because I guess he did that in Africa and sent 20 missionaries home! He said we were all doing pretty good though. Anyways, we got to spend around an hour with him in an up close devotional! He is an amazing and motivating speaker! He talked mostly about staying strong after the mission and one of the things he said that I liked was about returning missionaries, he said that "You may return, but you cannot go back." He was trying to make the point that we change for the better on our missions, and not to waste that.

My new companion is awesome, his name is Elder Manalo. We actually came out together in the MTC! He is from the Philippines, and there is a small language barrier, but he is so funny.
Love you guys! Hope you have a great week :)

Hey yall! Transfer news came in this weekend, and I am very very excited to announce that I will be returning to Oahu to serve in Laie! I am super happy because I will be in a Tongan ward, a Samoan ward and a Hawaiian ward! And that is where the Temple is, and that is where BYU-H is and yeah. I am stoked, that is 1 of 2 areas I really wanted to go! It looks like I am going to have to learn how to eat even more, I'm a little worried about that but it will be good. There are a lot of members there.

Pretty much this week we have been tying up loose ends, saying goodbyes and all that fun stuff. I am definitely going to miss many of the members here. The people of Hawai'i have hearts of gold. I have learned so much in my 6 months here, and am ready for the next lesson(s). This is always the hardest part in the mission, when you are getting a feel for everything, and you know everybody and then you move.. But I am excited at the same time.

Here is the picture I promised. I am pretty sure it is a puffer fish

Nothing much else to add. It is bitter sweet, Elder Ili goes home this week so he will be missed! I am looking forward to new adventures and new friends.
Love you guys!

Hello hello hello! It has been an awesome week! We did a lot of stuff this week, and I am really excited right now because I am pretty sure this is my last week on the Big Island, so we kind of went all out today. We woke up early and went fishing. I caught a Pufferfish! It was crazy I will send pics next week. After fishing we went with a member hunting wild pigs! They used a trap, and today I learned how to trap em, kill em, gut em, skin em, quarter em and cook em! It was awesome. They even let us learn hands on :)

We did some service for a crazy lady, exchanges in Pahoa area, and our Zone blew the mission record of contacts out of the water! We have been going pretty hard, it has been paying off though. It has brought a lot of new investigators which are really needed in all of our areas.

Said goodbye to the Ka'u ward yesterday. That was really sad. They are a small ward, but have a really strong spirit. I am going to miss them!

Love you guys!

Hey y'all! It was an amazing week this week. We had Zone conference on Thursday, and we learned how to sharpen our arsenal of missionary tools. Elder Nunn and I demonstrated how to be devastated when an investigator fails to keep a commitment. It was pretty exciting haha.

Saturday we spent the whole day at the church, and a little bit contacting on the street. It was the best, Anella and Pomai were Baptized and Confirmed on Sunday. It was a great spirit that was there! They are my favorite. We also did our first missionary moment and taught the Plan of Salvation to everyone that was there, and then once more for a baptism we had that evening.

There father has also expressed that he wants to be baptized. We are just working on a couple things and then there whole family will be good to go :)

Love you guys!

Happy New Year!

Man it has been a good week. Anella and Pomai's baptisms are coming up this Saturday! I am super pumped for them. Also last night we got a new referral who wants to be baptized so we are staying busy!

It was not a full pros week this week, for New years and NY eve we had a Zone get together and had some crazy ping pong tournaments and watched movies and played basketball and Frisbee. It was fun! Hawaii goes all out with fireworks on NY and the air is so smoky it's unreal. Our members are super awesome too, we eat even better during the Holidays.

For P-day we went to a beach park and cruised. Elder Cronin got ET'd to Kauai :( because Elder Ili's companion got sent home. So he gets to kill Elder Ili! Elder Cronin is the one I am standing by. Gonna miss that boy

Oh and don't mind our sick pineapple apparel haha. Love you guys!
