Just sent Jake some new trimmers.  He became the new Zone Barber. :)
Hey guys!
Life in Hawaii is picking up again, yay! Johnelle and Jeff are coming closer and closer to working through all of their obstacles and being baptized! We were able to go to the temple with them this week with the Maekawas and show them around in the VC. They LOVED it! They still really want to be baptized, and we plan on setting an exact date this week. The grandson of one of the deaths last week also told us he wanted to be baptized! We are starting the lessons with him tomorrow! His name is Cody and is a Sr. in High school. On top of that Bro. Pool and John are getting close as well, so I am a little bummed that my time in Mililani is coming close to an end, but making the most of it.
Our temple trip was today as well, that is always a good experience that lifts me up. This is the new Zone and Nanette is in the blue, we have been working with her and this was her first time going to the temple!

One approach we tried this week to get into peoples houses was called service tracting. We are dressed in normal service clothes and our badges, and we go to targeted houses and offer them service. It was a little bit crazy how many people actually talked to us that have just shut the door in the past. We were able to get into some homes that we have not been able to ever since I have been here, and set up 3 return service appts! I think that is one of the biggest tools we can use to soften peoples hearts. Ammon is a great example of this when he offered to serve the king until he died, it made the king actually listen to him and he ended up converting.
Thank you for all the service that any of you have ever given to me or my family. I hope you have a solid week! Until then- Ofa atu!

Hey guys. This week was really hard. I have not seen much death in my life, and our ward had 3 members pass away this week. 2 were very young and both unexpected. All 3 I have been teaching and consider my friends. Please pray for the Haleck, Sarver and Santos families and friends for comfort.
We followed up with Anthony, turns out he did turn to the internet for answers instead of God and the Book of Mormon. We will still try to be working with him if he will at least continue to read and pray.
Johnelle and Jeff make it all worth it though. They came to church yesterday and loved it! They let everyone know that their prayers were answered and they were working on being baptized. They bring such a good spirit into our lives, I love it! There are still some complications they are working through, but plan on being baptized as soon as possible. We taught the word of wisdom yesterday with the Maekawa's and they didn't have any problems with living it! That is usually a hard one for people.

Hope everybody is good, I love you guys and hope this week is solid. It would be greatly appreciated if you could continue to pray for Johnelle, Jeff, John, Anthony, and Jeff.  While the passing of loved ones is hard, it would be so much harder if we didn't know we could see them again. I am very grateful for that.

Man this week was really tough and really good. I recently learned how much power and influence  the adversary has in peoples lives. Our referral Anthony was coming so close to baptism, he was in 2nd Nephi and was praying and receiving answers. We had 2 amazing lessons with 2 awesome families and the spirit was definitely there. He was doing so well and he was so grateful for the things we were teaching him and then he stopped responding to us. Just a few days later we received a text that he would like to stop the lessons and does not believe what the Mormons teach.. We are still going to follow up to see where that came from, but that pretty much knocked me off my feet.
The Lord has blessed us, however, with 2 new awesome investigators. It was actually right around the same time, we were walking up the street and ran into a nice couple who listened to our message about the Book of Mormon and accepted it! They seemed unusually excited about listening to us, and agreed to meet the following day to discuss it. When we got there, we were surprised to hear that they had read the intro and the first few chapters of the Book of Mormon, and had a list of questions ready for us. We answered them and shared the Restoration and they both accepted Baptism after! I know the Lord places people in our paths who are willing to listen, we just need to open our mouths.
We were also able to meet with them again this week and we brought the Military relations missionaries. I know Elder Griffin and I were not responsible for making that choice. They asked all of these questions about their marriage that we did not know, but the Military relations couple  helped them with everything. They are super excited about the Book of Mormon and were super excited about Church, but didn't make it because of some family issues that came up. We get to teach them again this Tuesday and hopefully again later in the week. I am so excited for them! Please pray for Jonelle and Jeff that they can work through those marriage issues. Also please continue to pray for Anthony, Bro. Pool, John and the other Jeff.
Everything else is going good, we went on an awesome hike this morning with the Zone Leaders. Got to take a selfie with a seal!

I hope all is well with everybody. Going back to the beginning, resisting the influence of the adversary is very difficult. Most don't figure out how to do it before they die, and I definitely have not either, but with faith in God, prayer and good works it is achievable, and I know that from the progress I have seen in myself and in others.

I love you all, hope incredible things happen this week! Thank you for your prayers-

Hey! This week was much better than last. We taught Plan of Salvation to Anthony at Maekawa's, that went really well. He wasn't able to make it to church because of work but he is progressing really well. We also had Zone meeting and Interviews with President Warner, he is so great. He is really good to talk to about anything. Elder Griffin and I are still working on working together, but I have learned a lot from him. Brother Pool is officially moved out of our ward, we will be introducing the other Elders to him, but I still plan on attending his baptism when the time comes :) Trying to tract more, lots of big scary dogs. An Elder showed Sis. Warner his scriptures that a pit bull bit while he was running. It's teeth made it through the case, and all the way through to the book of Numbers!

I know that the Lord blesses us for trusting in him, and that he will help us through our trials if we
have faith.

“My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all
thy foes.” D&C 121:7–8

I love ya'll and hope this week is awesome!

This week was good, with a very rough start-

Monday was good, Jeff didn't make it to his after baptism lesson so that was a bummer. We followed up with him and he was ok, still trying to overcome some obstacles in his life, but he is doing better and better.

Tuesday we planned to say goodbye to everybody and to get Elder Ili all packed and ready to go, but I got really sick and was throwing up for the entire day. We missed Bro Pools lesson, and another lesson with our new investigator, but luckily they rescheduled for tomorrow.

I still couldn't get up for very long on Wednesday, but I had to pick up my new companion so we pushed through it. Said goodbye to over half of our Zone, including Elder Henderson and Ili. It is hard to say goodbye to people you have really grown with and become friends with.
Elder Griffin is my age, has been out for 7 months, is from Richfield Utah and loves track and running. It has been really hard to transition from someone I have spent my entire mission with to a new person, who's styles, habits, and personality is completely different, but things are starting to get better. We have already hit the pavement and introduced him to the majority of the ward and our investigators.

I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I was inspired by Elder Rellaford to try to cut my own hair this week, because I don't have much longer in the area, where our member Toby can cut it for me. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but I am still going to go ask Toby for advice as to where I can improve.
Our lesson on Friday with Anthony went really well, he said he enjoyed learning about the Gospel and believed the Book of Mormon to be true! He also said he has recognized the promptings and blessings of God in his life! We challenged him to pray to know for himself and he said that he would be willing to so we challenged him to be baptized when he did and he accepted!! He came to church and we had a really good lesson there too. The members were more than willing to answer his questions and to share their own personal experiences with him. I love our ward!
One thing that also happened this week that was sad was that the ward is changing it's boundaries, which for us means that our area is downsizing by about 20% and we are losing the Pool family.. We still have our lesson tomorrow night with him and it doesn't take effect for a couple weeks so we should be able to finish the lessons, but I will miss them and some of the other families in the ward.
I just want to thank everyone who has been a good example to me and my family throughout my life. I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for all you do for us :)
